How To Use Twitter For Business

December 27th, 2010

Social media is a great tool for business. It allows us a reach far beyond what we can achieve any other way. It does take some discipline to stick to a strategy, but then again isn’t that true of all business tools? Twitter is a tool that does not always get a good rap and I’d like to defend it. It does seem silly at first and the idea to communicating with others and sharing your thoughts in under 140 characters can seem an unlikely way to grow your business. It isn’t silly at all after you sit down and lay out a structure for yourself. I have a plan for how I use Twitter and I stick to that plan. The more I am present and the more of a following I build, the more I get excited about the possibilities.

Setting up list’s is one of the first things you need to do to use Twitter for business. Make a list of your Continue reading »

Twitter Is A Business Tool For Increased Visibility

October 21st, 2010

I’ll admit Twitter was pretty intimidating when I first became interested. I just didn’t get it! A sea of statements, quotes and half sentences from a vast list of people. But I am so glad that I stuck with it! Twitter is one of my top 3 business tools. I love Twitter because it is quick and it is easy to get in and get out. Or at least it is easy if you have a plan. The trick is not leaveing it open all day where you are tempted to peek at what is going on, or if anyone is talking to you. Have a plan to log into your account for certain periods of the day, know what your objective is and why you are there and then get in and get out. My schedule for Twitter is about 10 minutes for 2-3 blocks of time each work day.

It is a necessary business tool because Continue reading »

How To Maximize Your Time On Social Media

October 11th, 2010

Social media is a business tool that is important to any business and in any industry. It should be a part of your every day business activities, but be sure to know why you are there and what your goals are. Once you are clear on what your are looking to accomplish with social media you will set time blocks to make the most of your time and to not hang out there more then is necessary.

Set goals for yourself as to the numbers you want to reach and Continue reading »

Why Is 2000 Followers On Twitter So Important?

August 9th, 2010

I have recently launched a Twitter video series to explain and show people everything that is possible with Twitter. I wanted to make sure that everybody had an opportunity to get a birds eye view of why Twitter has been such an amzing business tool. It is such a surprise that more people are not using it. I agree that when you first take a peek it is a bit odd and hard to follow. But it is vital to any business today to make the time to figure it out.

2000 is a really important number of followers to achieve. It is important for 2 reasons, one, Twitter has a rule that you can’t follow more then 2000 people until 2000 or more people are following you, and two, because if you are only following and being followed by a few people then you miss the opportunity to enjoy the tweets and resources that could be streaming through your time line. Also, it is a threshold number that means you are a serious user and that you mean business.

You will probably follow a few major thought leaders or business superstars in your niche, and if you are not following a large number of people you will become overwhelmed when you only see the same people posting and you see 10-20 posts a time from that person. That would not be possible if you were following a few thousand people. Twitter is a gold mine of valuable resources and well suited prospects. You have to stick with it and grow your numbers to personally experience this value.

A large number of Twitter users stop using Twitter after the first month because they just don’t get it. I think that is a huge misfortune because I have have personally had such amazing outcomes. I have met people that I would never of otherwise had the opportunity to meet. People who support me, encourage me, and who share great resources for key information that moves me and my business forward. Also I have connected with people and made money or attracted new clients based solely on Twitter.

I love Twitter and I am a raving fan. I’d be happy and honored to help you have the same or better expeience. I have a free 17 minute video that I’d like to share with you that will offer a helpful overview to get you started or get you to 2000 followers. Http://TreasureTwitterMap.com

Twitter Time, How Do You Like To Use It?

June 26th, 2010

Twitter time is a big conversation! How often are you on Twitter, do you have a plan of action when you are there, do you just post once or twice at a time or hang out there for a while?? So many ways to be on Twitter and so many other things you could be doing.

Many people have shared with me that they think it is a time trap. Not just Twitter but all social media sites. To that I would like to say that everything is a time trap that does not have a purpose and a plan of action. Twitter can be very productive if you understand how it works and you don’t get carried away.

For me, a good amount of time on Twitter is 10 minutes per time block and I’ll set aside 3 time blocks a day for 4-5 days a week. Each time I go in I will address those who are talking to me or about me, I share a few ideas, questions, or thoughts that don’t include anyone particular, I RT about 3-5 messages, I introduce a few people to connect or I introduce a few like minded people together. Then I end every session with an affiliate link or a resource that I think is helpful.

At any one time my concentrated focus is on 25-50 people and that does change weekly or monthly. I have a plan of action that includes a set number of thought leaders I want to interact with as well as people I’d like to support and encourage and then people who I have met in person or am looking to meet in person. Twitter is not a waste of time. It is an opportunity to meet and connect with some people that you never would have met otherwise. Cultivate those relationships and say in touch.

What are your thoughts, comments or questions about Twitter?
