80/20 Pareto Principle – Be More Productive

June 28th, 2011

I read an idea that I want to share with you. It is about the 80/20 principle and it was by Richard Koch, who wrote several books on the topic. Koch wrote that you should be able to work for 2 days and get 160% of your typical results that used to take you 5 days to generate, and still have 3 days left over for whatever else you wanted to do. This of course was an idea set aside for those who knew and understood the power of the principal. I don’t know about you, but I love the sound of that and consider it a very worthwhile challenge in being more productive!

Here is how you might use this idea. Look at what you do day in and day out in your business and Continue reading »

Business Productivity – Improve Your Habits

April 28th, 2011

What new habits can help you improve the productivity for your business? Everyday people are executing ideas that will move their business forward and we can learn a lot by watching them. Some of these habits may work for you or even spur off new ideas of your own. The habit of taking action is more important then the action itself. Experiment with some things that you can incorporate into your daily and weekly routine. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking.

You could begin spending just a few minutes a day reaching out to someone new in your Social Media circles. Something I do weekly is Continue reading »

Become More Productive – Accountability For Results

April 8th, 2011

It is just the coolest thing how we have an enhanced sense of responsibility to others who may be counting on us, even when what we are doing has nothing to do with them. When we have a structure of a accountability we step up and maintain greater focus because we know that others are aware of our goals and what we are committed to achieving.

When I look back over my past, I have always been far more productive when I was held accountable (when others knew what I was committed to)! There are many different ways to set up accountability. One way is Continue reading »

Become More Productive – Extreme Focus!

April 6th, 2011

One of my biggest productivity success secrets is the idea of setting up 1-3 extreme focus sessions each week. These blocks of time will allow you to work on some of your fun ideas or bigger projects. It can really make a difference if you schedule in time to play with and explore these possibilities.

When you schedule in a period of extreme focus the most important factor is that you shut out all possible distractions. You discipline yourself to not answer the phone, you turn off your email alerts, you shut down your Twitter and facebook accounts (because you know your curiosity will take over) and you just FOCUS!!

You will want to Continue reading »

Become More Productive – Create A Victory Log

April 5th, 2011

I want to share one of my favorite productivity ideas with you and that is to keep a victory log of all your accomplishments. We can lose track of many of the small details that allow us to see that we are making progress and accomplishing a great deal toward growing our business. We do a large number of things that we fail to remember or even notice. Keeping track of these things is just great for building our confidence and increasing our energy. Don’t believe me, try it out.

Here is the best way to find out, test yourself. Write out a list of every little thing that you have accomplished in the past 90 days. You will probably have Continue reading »

Become More Productive – Consistent Action

April 4th, 2011

An important part of building your business is to clearly define what things you need to take action on consistently in order to keep your business moving forward. You may be familiar with the saying, “success leaves clues,” that is a statement I first heard from Anthony Robins several years ago. It is an idea that can offer a great deal of hope. If it has been done before, it can be done by you! It’s true that if you look at the people you most admire and respect in any given industry or market place, you will find the commonalities that have supported them and their success. Pay attention and note what these commonalities are. In what ways can you emulate the characteristics that will matter most as you work to accomplish your goals.

When you know exactly what you want to accomplish you can Continue reading »

March Is A Great Time To Be Unstoppable! Welcome!!

March 1st, 2011

March is here! Yippee! This is the last month of the first quarter and a chance for us to make sure that are goals for the year are aligned with how we are spending our time. We start the year with some big ideas about what we would like to create and then before you know what hits you the end of the year is near. The way I work around that is to reflect and plan each month so that I can be fully present to what I want to accomplish and where I am on that journey.

Here are some of the things I look at each month that help me to be more productive. These ideas Continue reading »

Increase Productivity – 1% At A Time

January 31st, 2011

Increasing our personal and business productivity can be a daunting task and sometimes we don’t even know where to start. There’s so much information coming toward us, and the list of things to do seems to grow while we’re sleeping. Maybe it’s time to stop trying to do it all right now, and take a different approach. Let me explain.

What if you could do something every day to Continue reading »

Daily Tasks – 4 Actions To Be Wildly Productive

January 27th, 2011

I know it sounds crazy to just do four things a day!  But before you dismiss this as a silly idea let’s talk about what this really means.  Have you ever heard of Parkinson’s Law?  It’s also known as the 80/20 rule.  Formally stated, Parkinson’s Law says that your work will expand to fill the exact amount of time you make available.  Simply put, if you allow a whole day to complete a task, it will take all day.  Studies have shown that just Continue reading »

Working On Your Business – Organize Your Time

January 19th, 2011

There is always so much to be done in our businesses. We work hard each day to wake up and do it all again. As entrepreneurs, we could all use some more time to work on our business as opposed to just in our business. The daily action habits and commitments often keep us in a place where there is always so much to do. Yet many ideas and opportunities are around us that seem exciting and possible.

I started thinking about college, or even high school for that matter, where we picked our class schedule and planned out where we had to be and when. We had a well organized time frame to do a little bit of everything we needed to learn and focus on. We also knew that Continue reading »

Your Goals Are In Danger! Read This To Keep Moving Forward

January 14th, 2011

We have made it 2 weeks into the new year! How do you feel? What have you accomplished? Are you sticking with the intentions and commitments you set for yourself for how you will be (and do and have) more in 2011? This is a great time to check in with yourself because statistics say that these next 2 weeks about 85% of the people will fall out of the New Year’s love bubble and lose momentum and focus. Not you, right? Here is what to look for and put a stop to before it is too late.

People lose their focus because new habits are a fun idea but less fun to implement. Good intentions only Continue reading »
